Overview
The Brass Vertical Check Valve is designed to automatically prevent reverse flow in water supply, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, and pump-discharge systems.
The valve normally uses an axially guided disc or poppet, assisted by a spring or fluid pressure. Forward pressure lifts the disc away from the seat, while the spring and reverse pressure return it rapidly to the closed position when the flow decreases or reverses. Its compact in-line construction is suitable for vertical upward-flow pipelines and, where permitted by the selected spring-loaded design, horizontal installation.

The required cracking pressure and spring force should be selected according to system pressure, flow rate, pump characteristics, and installation orientation.
Standards
● Design and General Requirements: EN 16767
● Inspection and Testing: EN 12266-1
● Thread Connection: ISO 228-1
● Optional Thread Standards: ISO 7-1 or ASME B1.20.1 NPT upon request
Other sizes, pressure ratings, spring materials, sealing materials, and cracking pressures can be discussed with the factory.
Industry Applications
● Building water supply
● Vertical risers
● Pump discharge pipelines
● HVAC circulation systems
● Agricultural irrigation
● Water treatment auxiliary systems
● Compressed air systems with compatible sealing materials
For vertical installation, the medium should normally flow upward. Suitability for downward flow or other installation orientations must be confirmed according to the specific internal construction.
FAQs
1. Does “vertical” mean the flow has to go upward?
For vertical installation, yes: the medium should normally flow upward. Downward flow or any other orientation needs to be confirmed against the specific internal construction before you order.
2. What cracking pressure should I ask for?
Cracking pressure is the pressure difference needed to lift the disc off its seat. Set it too high and you waste pump head. Set it too low and the disc may chatter or close sluggishly.
3. How is it different from a swing check valve?
The spring closes the disc as forward flow drops, before reverse flow builds up, which gives a faster and more controlled closing action. The Brass Swing Check Valve relies on gravity and reverse-flow pressure instead, and its flow path is relatively more open.
4. Can it be installed horizontally?
Yes, when the selected configuration permits it. Because a spring does the closing rather than gravity, the valve is not tied to a vertical line, but check the configuration before you order.
5. What if my line is bigger than DN50?
This model covers DN15 to DN50. For larger lines, look at the Silent Check Valve or the Swing Check Valve, and send us your size and pressure so we can point you to the right one.
