Overview
The Brass Swing Check Valve is designed to automatically prevent reverse flow in water supply, plumbing, HVAC, irrigation, and general utility piping systems.
During forward flow, the fluid pressure swings the hinged disc away from the seat. When the flow stops or begins to reverse, the disc returns to the closed position under gravity and reverse-flow pressure. The swing-type construction provides a relatively open flow passage and is particularly suitable for horizontal liquid pipelines with stable flow conditions.
Product Advantages
● Automatically prevents reverse flow
● Relatively low flow resistance when fully open
● Simple internal construction
● No external power or manual operation required
● Suitable for continuous liquid-service pipelines
● Convenient installation and maintenance
● Economical backflow-protection solution

Other pressure ratings, sealing materials, thread types, and technical requirements can be discussed with the factory.
Industry Applications
● Building water supply
● Pump outlet pipelines
● HVAC water circulation
● Agricultural irrigation
● Water treatment auxiliary systems
● General utility water pipelines
● Light industrial liquid systems
The valve is normally installed in a horizontal pipeline with the cover facing upward. Vertical installation is only suitable when the specific construction permits upward flow and reliable disc closing.
FAQs
1. How does it close without a spring?
A hinged disc swings open under forward flow. When the flow stops or reverses, gravity and the reverse pressure return the disc to the seat, so no handle, actuator or external power is needed.
2. Can it be installed on a vertical line?
Normally the valve is fitted in a horizontal pipeline with the cover facing up. Vertical installation is only suitable when the construction permits upward flow and reliable disc closing. For risers, the spring-assisted Brass Vertical Check Valve is usually the better match.
3. When is a swing check valve the wrong choice?
It works best in stable flow conditions. Where flow pulses or reverses abruptly, for example on pumps that start and stop frequently, the disc can close late and slam shut, so a spring-assisted design suits those lines better.
4. Can I inspect the disc without removing the valve?
The cover design gives access to the disc and hinge mechanism, so inspection and maintenance are straightforward. As always, isolate and depressurize that section of the line before opening the cover.
